This conversation goes round and round and he asks if I haven’t been over thinking things and reading too much. Weaving my own stories into reality. Distorting the facts at hand. He sees things in “rational light”, I see things that aren’t there. I can’t tell if he’s right or not. I guess we all write stories. To make things more palatable, to make things more understandable, to make things feel safer. I told him some of the things I’d seen with my eyes, some of the things I’d felt. Full disclosure, in all honesty. There was a pause, then a sound of recognition before he started to speak again. And then he told me that I should just deal with “real life”, as if I hadn’t been the one doing it all along.

On grudges

Grudges held silently and unjustly, because nobody is to blame, or nobody you could put their finger on. The war is not a person. Why blame a hurricane?
